Deck and Fence Staining
Professional staining for decks and fences that lasts through Texas heat and humidity.
We stain decks and fences to protect the wood and keep them looking good for years. Most of our work in Spring is on cedar and pressure-treated lumber that takes a beating from sun and rain. We prep the surface properly, which means cleaning, sanding where needed, and letting everything dry before we stain. That prep work is what separates a job that lasts from one that peels.
Spring's humidity and heat mean wood can fail fast without the right finish. We use exterior-grade stains rated for Texas weather and apply them when conditions are dry, usually in fall or early spring. We don't stain in peak summer heat or right before rain. Fences take one coat, decks usually take two depending on traffic and sun exposure. The whole job typically takes two to three days depending on size.
You get a deck or fence that's protected from rot and UV damage, with color that doesn't fade as fast as cheaper stains. The wood stays easier to clean and maintain. Most customers see their stain hold up for four to six years before needing a refresh, depending on how much sun and foot traffic the surface gets.
About deck and fence staining
How long does stain last on a deck in Spring?
Four to six years is typical with normal use and sun exposure. Decks in full sun or with heavy foot traffic may need refreshing sooner. We can seal it again without stripping the old stain if it's still bonded well.
Do you have to sand the deck before staining?
We assess each deck. If the old stain is peeling or the surface is rough, sanding is necessary so the new stain bonds properly. A solid, smooth surface might only need cleaning. We'll let you know what we find during the prep phase.
What's the difference between stain and paint for a fence?
Stain soaks into the wood and lets the grain show through. Paint sits on top and covers the wood completely. Stain lasts longer on fences because it doesn't peel like paint does, and it's easier to maintain when it needs refreshing.
